But it turned out to be far trickier than we had anticipated. The whole thing was attached to one trunk at ground level.
And she made the face cut beautifully, with one of the tops of the clump secured by a come-along to make sure they fell the right way. The wind was blowing exactly the wrong way, so we were trying to be careful.
But the trunk split as she was making the back-cut, which made the heaviest portion of the tree lean towards the wires. With an ominous Crack! And the wind blowing...
But we got a second come-along hooked up to that one to stabilize it. Then the chain saw chain broke. An old one was found by the Alaska Filipina! So she got one of the clump cut and felled, then she hooked both come-alongs to the biggest one, and horsed it where she wanted it.
Donny looks very concerned.
But hey! In the end that set of trees went exactly where we wanted, despite the wind working against us, the trunk splitting, and a chain breaking. Despite Murphy's Law all the way, we won the day.
